وَجَآءَ أَهْلُ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ ﴿67﴾
And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men’s arrival).
وَجَآءَ wajāa And came
أَهْلُ ahlu (the) people
ٱلْمَدِينَةِ l-madīnati (of) the city
يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ yastabshirūna rejoicing

67. 1. On one side, the destruction of the people was being decided in the house of Prophet Lut (عليه السلام). On the other side, when the people of Lut learned that handsome young guests had arrived at Lut’s (عليه السلام) house, due to their obsession with young boys, they became very happy and joyfully came to Prophet Lut (عليه السلام) and demanded that these young men be handed over to them so that they could commit indecency with them and satisfy themselves.
