قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ﴿56﴾
[Ibrâhîm (Abraham)] said: "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?"
قَالَ qāla He said
وَمَن waman And who
يَقْنَطُ yaqnaṭu despairs
مِن min of
رَّحْمَةِ raḥmati (the) Mercy
رَبِّهِۦٓ rabbihi (of) his Lord
إِلَّا illā except
ٱلضَّآلُّونَ l-ḍālūna those who are astray

56. 1. That is, I am expressing astonishment and wonder at having children only because of my old age; it is not that I am hopeless of my Lord’s mercy. Only those who are astray lose hope in the mercy of their Lord.
