Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

26. 1. According to the different states of clay, it has different names: dry clay, wet clay, kneaded clay with a bad smell, when it dries and starts making a clinking sound, and when it is baked in fire, it is called (pottery). Here, the way Allah Almighty has mentioned the creation of man, it is understood that the figure of Adam was made from clay, and when it dried and started making a clinking sound (ṣalṣāl), then the soul was breathed into it. Similarly, ṣalṣāl is said to be like fakhkhar elsewhere in the Quran (خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ) 55. Ar-Rahman:14) 'He created man from sounding clay like pottery.'
