Surah Ibrahim (14) — Ayah 42

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَـٰفِلًا عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ ﴿42﴾
Consider not that Allâh is unaware of that which the Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong-doers) do, but He gives them respite up to a Day when the eyes will stare in horror.
وَلَا walā And (do) not
تَحْسَبَنَّ taḥsabanna think
ٱللَّهَ l-laha (that) Allah
غَـٰفِلًا ghāfilan (is) unaware
عَمَّا ʿammā of what
يَعْمَلُ yaʿmalu do
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۚ l-ẓālimūna the wrongdoers
إِنَّمَا innamā Only
يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ yu-akhiruhum He gives them respite
لِيَوْمٍۢ liyawmin to a Day
تَشْخَصُ tashkhaṣu will stare
فِيهِ fīhi in it
ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ l-abṣāru the eyes

42. 1. That is, because of the terrors of the Day of Judgment. If in this world Allah has given someone more respite and has not called him to account until his death, then on the Day of Judgment he will not be able to escape the divine reckoning, which will be such a dreadful day for the disbelievers that their eyes will remain wide open in terror.
