ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَحِبُّونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۭ بَعِيدٍ ﴿3﴾
Those who prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allâh (i.e. Islâm) and seek crookedness therein - they are far astray.
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Those who
يَسْتَحِبُّونَ yastaḥibbūna love more
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ l-ḥayata the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا l-dun'yā (of) the world
عَلَى ʿalā than
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ l-ākhirati the Hereafter
وَيَصُدُّونَ wayaṣuddūna and hinder
عَن ʿan from
سَبِيلِ sabīli (the) Path
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah
وَيَبْغُونَهَا wayabghūnahā and seek in it
عِوَجًا ۚ ʿiwajan crookedness
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika those
فِى [in]
ضَلَـٰلٍۭ ḍalālin (are) far astray
بَعِيدٍۢ baʿīdin (are) far astray

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. 3. 1. One meaning of this is that they find faults in the teachings of Islam to create suspicion among people, and present them in a distorted manner. The second meaning is that they want to alter it according to their own motives and desires.
3. 2. This is because several of the aforementioned evils have accumulated in them. For example, preferring the world over the Hereafter, preventing people from the path of Allah, and seeking crookedness in Islam.
