وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱئْتُونِى بِهِۦٓ أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِى ۖ فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَهُۥ قَالَ إِنَّكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ لَدَيْنَا مَكِينٌ أَمِينٌ ﴿54﴾
And the king said: "Bring him to me that I may attach him to my person." Then, when he spoke to him, he said: "Verily, this day, you are with us high in rank and fully trusted."
وَقَالَ waqāla And said
ٱلْمَلِكُ l-maliku the king
ٱئْتُونِى i'tūnī Bring him to me
بِهِۦٓ bihi Bring him to me
أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ astakhliṣ'hu I will select him
لِنَفْسِى ۖ linafsī for myself
فَلَمَّا falammā Then when
كَلَّمَهُۥ kallamahu he spoke to him
قَالَ qāla he said
إِنَّكَ innaka Indeed, you
ٱلْيَوْمَ l-yawma (are) today
لَدَيْنَا ladaynā with us
مَكِينٌ makīnun firmly established
أَمِينٌۭ amīnun (and) trusted

54. 1 When the king Rayyan bin Waleed became aware of Yusuf’s (AS) knowledge and excellence, as well as the nobility of his character and his chastity, he ordered that he be brought before him, saying: I want to choose him for myself, that is, to make him my companion and special advisor.

54. 2 مَکِیْنُ — a person of high rank, آمِین — the confidant of the secrets of the kingdom.
