أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ ﴿12﴾
"Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and verily, we will take care of him."
أَرْسِلْهُ arsil'hu Send him
مَعَنَا maʿanā with us
غَدًۭا ghadan tomorrow
يَرْتَعْ yartaʿ (to) enjoy
وَيَلْعَبْ wayalʿab and play
وَإِنَّا wa-innā And indeed, we
لَهُۥ lahu for him
لَحَـٰفِظُونَ laḥāfiẓūna (will) surely (be) guardians

12. 1. The tendency for play and amusement is included in human nature. That is why Allah Almighty has never imposed a ban on permissible play and amusement in any era. It is also allowed in Islam, but with conditions. That is, such play and amusement are permissible in which there is no Shariah objection and which do not become a means to forbidden things. Thus, Hazrat Yaqub (علیہ السلام) also did not object to play and amusement as such. However, he did express the concern that you might become engrossed in play and amusement and he (Yusuf) might be eaten by a wolf, because in open fields and deserts, wolves were common there.
