سُوْرَةُ يُوسُفَ
Surah Yusuf (12) — Ayah 106
وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِٱللَّهِ إِلَّا وَهُم مُّشْرِكُونَ ﴿106﴾

And most of them believe not in Allâh except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikûn i.e. polytheists. See Verse 6: 121].

16. 1. This is the reality which the Qur'an has explained very clearly in numerous places: that these polytheists do acknowledge that the Creator, Owner, Sustainer, and Administrator of the heavens and the earth is only Allah Almighty. Yet, despite this, they associate others with Allah in worship. And thus, most people are polytheists—that is, in every era, people have believed in the Oneness of Lordship, but are not willing to accept the Oneness of Worship. The polytheism of today's grave-worshippers is also the same: they consider the elders buried in graves to possess divine attributes, call upon them for help, and perform many acts of worship for them as well. May Allah protect us from this.
