قَالُوا۟ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا لَنَا فِى بَنَاتِكَ مِنْ حَقٍّ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَعْلَمُ مَا نُرِيدُ ﴿79﴾
They said: "Surely you know that we have neither any desire nor need of your daughters, and indeed you know well what we want!"
قَالُوا۟ qālū They said
لَقَدْ laqad Verily
عَلِمْتَ ʿalim'ta you know
مَا (that) not
لَنَا lanā we have
فِى concerning
بَنَاتِكَ banātika your daughters
مِنْ min any
حَقٍّۢ ḥaqqin right
وَإِنَّكَ wa-innaka And indeed, you

79. 1. That is, they completely rejected a legitimate and natural way, and insisted on unnatural acts and indecency, from which it can be inferred how far that nation had advanced in its evil habit of indecency and how blind they had become.
