Surah Hud (11) — Ayah 33

قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَأْتِيكُم بِهِ ٱللَّهُ إِن شَآءَ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ ﴿33﴾
He said: "Only Allâh will bring it (the punishment) on you, if He wills, and then you will escape not.
قَالَ qāla He said
إِنَّمَا innamā Only
يَأْتِيكُم yatīkum will bring it (on) you
بِهِ bihi will bring it (on) you
ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah
إِن in if
شَآءَ shāa He wills
وَمَآ wamā and not
أَنتُم antum you (are)
بِمُعْجِزِينَ bimuʿ'jizīna one who (can) escape (it)

33. 1. That is, the coming of punishment depends solely on Allah's will; it is not that whenever I wish, punishment will come upon you. However, when Allah decides or sends the punishment, then no one can frustrate it.
