Surah Al-Aadiyaat (100) — Ayah 7

وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ ﴿7﴾
And to that he bears witness (by his deeds).
وَإِنَّهُۥ wa-innahu And indeed, he
عَلَىٰ ʿalā on
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that
لَشَهِيدٌۭ lashahīdun surely (is) a witness

7. 1. That is, a person himself also bears witness to his own ingratitude. Some consider the doer of "لشہید" to be Allah. But Imam Shawkani has given preference to the first meaning, because in the following verses, the pronoun refers to the human being. Therefore, it is more correct for it to refer to the human being here as well.
