سُوْرَةُ الْفَاتِحَةِ
Surah Al-Faatiha (1) — Ayah 7
صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ ﴿7﴾

The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace , not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger (i.e. those who knew the Truth, but did not follow it) nor of those who went astray (i.e. those who did not follow the Truth out of ignorance and error). ,

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. 1. This straight path is the Islam which the Prophet ﷺ presented to the world and which is now preserved in the Qur'an and authentic ahadith. 2. The explanation of the straight path is that this straight path is the one upon which those people walked who received Your favor. (وَمَنْ يُّطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَالرَّسُوْلَ فَاُولٰۗىِٕكَ مَعَ الَّذِيْنَ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِّنَ النَّبِيّٖنَ وَالصِّدِّيْقِيْنَ وَالشُّهَدَاۗءِ وَالصّٰلِحِيْنَ ۚ وَحَسُنَ اُولٰۗىِٕكَ رَفِيْقًا) 4:69 And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger ﷺ, they will be with those whom Allah has favored, such as the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous; and these are the best companions. In this verse, it is also clarified that the path of the favored ones is only the path of obedience to the Messenger ﷺ, not any other path. It is proven from some narrations that مَغْضُوْبُ عَلَیْھِمْ (those upon whom is Allah's wrath) refers to the Jews and (وَلا الضَّآلِیْن) the misguided refers to the Christians. Ibn Abi Hatim says that there is no difference among the commentators regarding this. For those who wish to walk upon the straight path, it is necessary to avoid the misguidance of both the Jews and the Christians. The major misguidance of the Jews was that, knowingly, they did not walk upon the right path; they did not refrain from altering the divine verses and making excuses. They called ‘Uzair (عزیر ؑ) the son of Allah, and considered their rabbis and monks as having the authority to declare things lawful and unlawful. The major mistake of the Christians was that they called ‘Isa (عیسیٰ ؑ) the son of Allah and considered their religious leaders authorized to declare things lawful and unlawful. The major mistake of the Christians was that they exaggerated in the status of ‘Isa (عیسیٰ ؑ) and declared him (the son of Allah) and one of the three gods. It is unfortunate that these misguidances are also common in the Ummah of Muhammad, and for this reason, they are humiliated and disgraced in the world. May Allah take it out from the pit of misguidance, so that it may be protected from the ever-increasing shadow of adversity and disgrace. At the end of the surah, the Prophet ﷺ emphasized saying آمِیْن, therefore both the imam and the follower should say Ameen. O Allah, accept our supplication.
