Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

It is narrated from Anas bin Malik and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) considered Surah Az-Zalzalah to be equal to half of the Qur'an, but Shaykh Nasiruddin Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared these narrations to be Munkar and weak. (Ayah 1) { اِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْاَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا: ’’زَلْزَلَ يُزَلْزِلُ زَلْزَلَةً وَ زِلْزَالًا‘‘} (fa'lala) means to shake violently. Here, {’’زِلْزَالٌ‘‘} is a verbal noun in the passive sense, meaning to be shaken violently. By this is meant the tremendous earthquake that will come with the second blowing of the trumpet, because with the second blowing the dead will rise from their graves. It is said: «ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيْهِ اُخْرٰى فَاِذَا هُمْ قِيَامٌ يَّنْظُرُوْنَ » [ الزمر : ۶۸ ] "Then it will be blown into it a second time, and suddenly they will be standing, looking on." {’’ زِلْزَالَهَا ‘‘} (its earthquake) means that the earth will be shaken with the kind of tremendous earthquake that is required to shake it violently.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

1. When the earth is shaken with its utmost shaking [1],

[1] That is, there will be continuous earthquakes on the earth, and these will not be of a regional nature, but will encompass the entire earth. Due to these continuous and successive earthquakes, there will remain no unevenness or elevation on the earth. Such earthquakes will occur at the time of the second blowing of the Trumpet (Sur). At the first blowing of the Trumpet, the earthquake that will occur will bring about the Resurrection and all living creatures will die. At the time of the second blowing of the Trumpet, the severe earthquakes will eliminate all unevenness and elevations from the earth, making it a level and flat plain. Rivers, mountains, seas—everything will be eliminated, changing the very form of this earth. Then, on it, the Plain of Gathering (Mahshar) will be established.
