Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 5) {ثُمَّرَدَدْنٰهُاَسْفَلَسٰفِلِيْنَ:} This best form includes the beauty of his appearance, his intellect, his innate nature at creation, and all those things which no animal possesses. Then, if he does not act according to the demands of this intellect and innate nature, but instead descends from humanity to animality and becomes dominated by lust, anger, and other animalistic traits, then there is none lower and more despicable than him, because he falls to such a level that no animal ever does, to the extent that he even forgets his Owner and Creator, begins to associate partners with Him, and causes such corruption on earth that no animal can cause. Obviously, the result of this is the Fire, and there is none lower and more despicable than those who fall into it. Regarding them, Allah Almighty has said: « اُولٰٓىِٕكَكَالْاَنْعَامِبَلْهُمْاَضَلُّ »[ الأعراف : ۱۷۹ ] "These people are like cattle; rather, they are even more astray."

The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
5. 1. This is a reference to the "worst of ages" of man, in which after youth and strength, old age and weakness come, and a person's intellect and mind become like that of a child. Some have taken this to mean the baseness of character into which a person falls, becoming even lower than snakes and scorpions. Some have taken this to mean the punishment of humiliation and disgrace that is for the disbelievers in Hell, as if by turning away from obedience to Allah and His Messenger, man falls from the high rank and honor of his "best stature" into the lowest of the low in Hell.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

[6] How is Man Lower than All Creation?
That is, if a human being uses his God-given intellectual abilities and physical strengths in the path of evil, and turns to disobedience and rebellion against Allah, then he falls even below the level of animals. This is because animals have not been given the ability to distinguish between good and evil by Allah, and if a human, despite having this ability, does not use it, he is deemed worse than animals. In fact, morally, man can fall to such depths that are unimaginable even among animals. In human society, evils such as greed, avarice, selfishness, lustfulness, intoxication, baseness, oppression and brutality, plundering, and murder are found. Where are such things seen among animals? In this respect, man truly becomes lower and more degraded than all creation.
