Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

The tafsir of this verse may be read with the following verses.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

125. 1. By "disease" is meant hypocrisy and doubts and suspicions regarding the signs of Allah. It is stated: Rather, this Surah increases the hypocrites in their hypocrisy and filth, and they become so firm in their disbelief and hypocrisy that they are not granted the ability to repent, and their end comes upon disbelief, just as Allah Almighty has stated elsewhere: "We send down in the Quran that which is a healing and mercy for the believers, but it increases the wrongdoers only in loss." This is, in fact, the height of their wretchedness, that the very things by which people's hearts are guided, those same things become the cause of their misguidance and destruction. Just as when a person's temperament and stomach become corrupted, the very foods from which people gain strength and pleasure, in his illness, become the cause of further deterioration and harm.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

125. But as for those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy), it has only added impurity [144] to their former impurity, and they will die as disbelievers.

[144]
With Every Surah, the Hypocrisy of the Hypocrites Only Increases:

In response to the question of the hypocrites, Allah Almighty said that for those whose hearts already contain faith, this surah certainly becomes a cause for the increase of their faith. But for those whose hearts already contain the filth of hypocrisy, this surah adds yet another layer of filth to their impurity, so that every surah only adds to the heap of their impurity until death comes to them. And its example is exactly like the rain that descends from the sky as a mercy from Allah. Now, the good and fertile land flourishes with this rain, but the filthy or barren land will not produce anything, and if it does, it will only be weeds and thorns.
