Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 15 to 20){ فَاَمَّاالْاِنْسَانُاِذَامَاابْتَلٰىهُ …:} According to the deniers of the Resurrection, since everything is just this world, their belief is that whoever is prosperous in the world, Allah is pleased with him, and whoever is in hardship, Allah is displeased with him. It is said that this is absolutely not correct; you have just heard the stories of Pharaoh and other people—remember their prosperity and then the punishment that befell them, and you will understand that worldly prosperity or adversity is a test from Allah: the disbeliever fails by becoming rebellious in prosperity and complaining and ungrateful in hardship, while the believer succeeds by being grateful in blessings and patient in adversity. Your condition is such that instead of being grateful for the blessing of prosperity and spending on the deserving as a form of gratitude, you do not even treat the orphan with respect, or if you do not feed the needy, you do not even encourage others to do so. You even seize the inheritance that you received without effort, and instead of being content with your share while thanking the Giver, you grab it all. The reality is that you love wealth instead of the Giver of wealth, and you do so excessively.

The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
15. 1. That is, when someone is granted abundance of honor and wealth, he falls into the misunderstanding about himself that Allah is very merciful to him, whereas abundance is given as a test and trial.
