( Ayah 20,19 ) {بَلِ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا … :} The truth was that these people should have believed after seeing the fate of the rebellious ones before them, but instead, they are unnecessarily engaged in denial, even though they should remember that Allah has surrounded them from all sides; He can seize them whenever He wills.

19. Yet the disbelievers persist in denial [13].

[13] That is, it has become the occupation and habit of these disbelievers of Makkah that whenever any signs are revealed from Allah, they become determined to deny them. The armies of Pharaoh and Thamud used to do the same, and these Quraysh of Makkah are not even a tenth of their strength and numbers. Then, what significance do these poor people have? Allah Almighty has surrounded them from all sides and can subject them to a terrible end at any time.
