وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ ﴿30﴾
And, whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery).

(Ayah 30) {وَ اِذَا مَرُّوْا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُوْنَ: ’’ يَتَغَامَزُوْنَ ‘‘ ’’غَمْزٌ‘‘} Gesturing with eyebrows and eyelashes, that is, these criminal people, upon seeing the believers’ appearance and clothing, manner of speech, indifference to the world, and striving for the Hereafter according to the Book and Sunnah, would belittle them and mock them by winking at each other, as if to say: “These are the crazy people who have deprived themselves of worldly pleasures for an imaginary Paradise.”
