Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 7){ وَ اِذَا النُّفُوْسُ زُوِّجَتْ :} "And when the souls are joined," there are two interpretations of this: The first is that the souls will be joined with the bodies. From here, the conditions after the second blowing (of the trumpet) are described, so all will be resurrected. The second is that the souls will be grouped into categories: the righteous with the righteous and the sinners with the sinners, as Allah Almighty has said: «اُحْشُرُوا الَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا وَ اَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَ مَا كَانُوْا يَعْبُدُوْنَ » [ الصافات : ۲۲ ] "Gather those who did wrong and their kinds and those whom they used to worship." The second interpretation was stated by Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). [ دیکھیے بخاري، التفسیر، باب : «إذا الشمس کورت» ، بعد ح : ۴۹۳۷ ]

7. 1. Several meanings have been stated for this. The most plausible seems to be that every person will be joined with those of his own religion and creed. Believers with believers, the wicked with the wicked, Jews with Jews, and Christians with Christians.

The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

7. And when souls are paired [8],

[8] The word "zauj" is very broad in meaning, and in this regard, the meaning of this verse can also be multiple. For example, one meaning is that on the Day of Judgment, the bodies of the dead will be raised from their graves and their souls will be joined to those bodies, and this is the concept of resurrection. The second meaning is that, according to their crimes, their groups will be formed. For example, the group of polytheists will be separate, the hypocrites separate, the disbelievers separate, the believers separate, or like the adulterers separate, the murderers separate, and so on.
