46. 1. The third guidance: Obey Allah and His Messenger. It is obvious how extremely dangerous disobedience to Allah and His Messenger can be in such delicate circumstances. Therefore, for a Muslim, obedience to Allah and His Messenger is necessary in every situation. However, in the battlefield, its importance is doubled, and at this moment, even a little disobedience can become a cause of being deprived of Allah’s help. The fourth guidance is that you should not dispute and differ among yourselves; otherwise, you will become cowardly and your strength will depart. The Prophet ﷺ also said in a hadith: "O people! Do not wish to meet the enemy, and ask Allah for well-being." However, whenever the opportunity to fight the enemy arises, be patient (i.e., stand firm in battle) and know that Paradise is under the shade of swords. (Sahih Bukhari)
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
46. And obey Allah and His Messenger [51], and do not dispute with one another, lest you lose courage and your strength depart. And be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are patient.
[51] Prohibition of Disagreement and Quarreling:
And whatever Allah and His Messenger ﷺ command you, do not create disagreement or turn it into a dispute. Although this command is general, due to its importance during war, it has been mentioned here specifically. If you fall into disagreement during this time, your morale will be weakened and your reputation will suffer a severe blow, which can ultimately become a prelude to your defeat. And make it your habit to endure and overcome the difficulties that arise during this time, and remember that if you are patient over such difficulties, then surely Allah will help you.
