In order that Allâh may distinguish the wicked (disbelievers, polytheists and doers of evil deeds) from the good (believers of Islâmic Monotheism and doers of righteous deeds), and put the wicked (disbelievers, polytheists and doers of evil deeds) one over another, heap them together and cast them into Hell. Those! it is they who are the losers.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 37) { لِيَمِيْزَ اللّٰهُ الْخَبِيْثَ مِنَ الطَّيِّبِ …: } By separating the impure from the pure is meant either, on the Day of Resurrection, separating the disbelievers and the Muslims, then gathering the impure disbelievers in layers and throwing them into Hell; or, even in this world, after separating the believers and the disbelievers through striving in the way of Allah, putting the impure people, that is, the disbelievers, to the sword and throwing them into Hell. And these are the people who are truly the losers.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

37. 1. This separation will either occur in the Hereafter, where the people of happiness will be separated from the people of wretchedness, as it is said: (وَامْتَا زُوا الْیَوْ مَ اَتُہاَ الْمُجْرِمُوْنَ) (Surah Ya-Sin. 59) "O sinners! Today, keep yourselves apart," meaning from the righteous people, and the criminals, that is, the disbelievers, polytheists, and disobedient ones, will be gathered together and all will be thrown into Hell. Or, it may relate to this world, meaning that the disbelievers are spending wealth to hinder from the path of Allah, and We will give them the opportunity to do so, so that in this way Allah may separate the impure from the pure, the disbeliever from the believer, and the hypocrite from the sincere. In this regard, the meaning of the verse will be: through the disbelievers, We will test you; they will fight you, and We will also give them the ability to spend their wealth in battle, so that the impure may be distinguished from the pure. Then He will combine the impure with one another, meaning He will gather them all together (Ibn Kathir).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

37. So that Allah may separate the impure from the pure, and heap the impure upon one another, piling them all together, then cast them into Hell. It is they who are the true losers. [38]

[38] That is, with the gradual dominance of Islam and the gradual eradication of disbelief, this benefit is automatically achieved that the enemies of Islam would perish or be killed, and only those would remain who were destined to accept Islam. And Allah Almighty will place this filthy element of the enemies on top of each other and throw all this debris into Hell. What greater loss could these people have than that in the path where they spent all their time, all their effort, all their abilities, and the entire capital of their lives, in the end, they find out that this path has led them to destruction and Hell.
