Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allâh, He will grant you Furqân [(a criterion to judge between right and wrong), or (Makhraj, i.e. a way for you to get out from every difficulty)], and will expiate for you your sins, and forgive you; and Allâh is the Owner of the Great Bounty.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 29) ➊ {اِنْتَتَّقُوااللّٰهَيَجْعَلْلَّكُمْفُرْقَانًا … :} After warning about the trial of wealth and children, now the teaching of Taqwa (piety) is given and its benefits are mentioned. The root of Taqwa is "و ق ی" and it is a verbal noun. {’’ تَتَّقُوا ‘‘} is from the form "Iftiaal" (باب افتعال), its meaning is to save oneself. A person saves himself from that which he fears, therefore its meaning is also taken as "to fear." {’’ فَرْقٌ‘‘} and {’’ فُرْقَانٌ‘‘} are verbal nouns, both have the same meaning, but due to the additional letters in {’’ فُرْقَانًا ‘‘}, the meaning is increased, that is, if you always fear Allah and save yourself from His disobedience, whether someone else is with you or not, then you will be granted four blessings. The first is that you will be given a great power to distinguish between truth and falsehood, and due to this power, Allah will grant you the ability to clearly recognize the correctness or incorrectness of every action and then act accordingly, instead of falling into any doubt, suspicion, or hesitation. You will be able to easily decide upon the truth and act upon it. See Surah Hadid (28). Similarly, He will grant you victory and help, and decide between you and your enemies. The second is that He will remove your evils from you, and the third is that on the Day of Resurrection, He will forgive your sins.
➋ { وَاللّٰهُذُوالْفَضْلِالْعَظِيْمِ:} This is the fourth blessing. The meaning of "Fadl" is extra, that is, Allah will not only give you as much reward as you act, but much more than that, because He is the One who gives much more, even more than you can imagine. Allah has said: «{ فَلَاتَعْلَمُنَفْسٌمَّاۤاُخْفِيَلَهُمْمِّنْقُرَّةِاَعْيُنٍ }»[ السجدۃ : ۱۷ ] "So no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes."
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
29. 1. Taqwa means to avoid opposing the commands of Allah and to refrain from committing His prohibitions, and several meanings of Furqan have been mentioned, such as something by which the difference between truth and falsehood can be distinguished. The meaning is that due to taqwa, the heart becomes strong, insight sharper, and the path of guidance clearer, by which a person, at every such occasion when ordinary people are wandering in the valleys of doubt and suspicion, is granted the ability to remain on the straight path. In addition, victory, help, salvation, and a way out have also been mentioned as its meanings. And all of these can be intended, because certainly all these benefits are attained through taqwa, and along with this, expiation of sins, forgiveness of sins, and great bounty are also attained.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
29. O you who believe! If you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion [30] (to distinguish right from wrong), remove your evil deeds from you, and forgive you. And Allah is the Possessor of great bounty.
[30] The Fruits of Taqwa:
That is, if you remain fearful lest you commit any act that is against the pleasure of Allah, then Allah will create within you such a light of insight or a power of discernment that will guide you at every turn in life as to which action is according to Allah’s pleasure and which is against His will. That is, those who, after bringing faith, adopt taqwa, Allah bestows upon them three kinds of rewards. First, they are granted the insight to distinguish between truth and falsehood. Second, their evil deeds are erased. And third, most of their sins are forgiven. And these fruits of taqwa are not merely due to taqwa itself, but because Allah is the possessor of infinite grace.
