ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا ﴿39﴾
That is (without doubt) the True Day. So, whosoever wills, let him seek a place with (or a way to) His Lord (by obeying Him in this worldly life)!
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That
ٱلْيَوْمُ l-yawmu (is) the Day
ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ l-ḥaqu the True
فَمَن faman So whoever
شَآءَ shāa wills
ٱتَّخَذَ ittakhadha let him take
إِلَىٰ ilā towards
رَبِّهِۦ rabbihi his Lord
مَـَٔابًا maāban a return

(Ayah 39){ ذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ … :} This is the Day which is the truth, that is, it will certainly come. So when the coming of that Day is certain, a person should prepare now to be able to face his Lord and to make a place with Him; after death, there will be no opportunity for this.

39. 1. Keeping in view that coming Day, one should adopt a life of faith and piety so that on that Day he may have a good abode there.

39. That is the True Day. So whoever wills, let him take a way back to his Lord [26].

[26] That is, the conditions that are to arise after death and on the Day of Resurrection are being clearly stated. In light of these, two paths are presented before a person. One is that a person, with the concept of accountability, adopts a cautious and responsible life. The other is that he closes his eyes to the coming conditions and remains intoxicated and enamored only with the life of this world. Now, it is up to the person to choose whichever path he prefers.
