Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 20 to 24) ➊ { اَلَمْ نَخْلُقْكُّمْ مِّنْ مَّآءٍ مَّهِيْنٍ …:} Allah Almighty created man from a lowly fluid, that is, a drop of semen, then placed him in a secure resting place, that is, the mother’s womb, which is surrounded on three sides by bones. As soon as conception occurs, the child is so firmly fixed in the womb and so well protected that, without a severe accident, miscarriage cannot occur.

{ اِلٰى قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُوْمٍ:} “Up to a known measure,” meaning nine months or less or more, the knowledge of which is with Allah Almighty alone—He knows in how many months, days, hours, or minutes the child will be born; no one else has this knowledge.

{فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقٰدِرُوْنَ:} That is, We set a period in which the child’s structure is completed; nothing is made in excess, nor is anything necessary left out. As long as it is necessary for him to remain in the womb, he stays there, and when it is necessary for him to come out, he comes out. We have set this period, and how precise We are in determining! The second translation of {’’ فَقَدَرْنَا ‘‘} can also be “We became able,” meaning We gradually developed a drop of water into a complete and intelligent human being; from this, you can understand how powerful We are. (Ashraf al-Hawashi)

{ وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ:} After seeing their own creation from a lowly drop, those who declare the Day of Resurrection impossible and deny it—for them, there is great destruction and ruin on that Day.
