46. And used to deny the Day of Judgment [22].
[22] Four Major Sins That Lead to Hell:
In response to the question of the people of Paradise, the people of Hell will mention four things that became the cause of their entry into Hell. The first is that we did not perform prayers. Because only that person can be regular in prayer who believes in Allah and also in the reckoning of the Day of Judgment. Thus, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has said that whoever performs prayers regularly, you should bear witness to his being a believer. The second meaning of this is that the one who does not perform prayers, neither does he have faith in Allah nor in the Day of Judgment. The second crime they will mention is that they did not use to feed the poor. The first crime was related to the right of Allah. This second crime is related to the rights of the servants. In the matter of feeding the hungry, it is not necessary that the hungry person be a Muslim. Rather, whoever he may be, whatever religion he belongs to, if he is hungry, then by virtue of being a human, it is his right to be fed. If he is naked, he should be given clothes, or if he is sick, he should be treated. And if he is a Muslim or a relative, then his right increases even more. The third crime they will mention is that those people who used to mock the verses of Allah, or used to create doubts and suspicions in the verses of Allah, we also used to join them. And all these things were because we did not have faith in the Day of the Hereafter. It is as if our real and greatest crime was that we did not believe in being answerable to Allah for our deeds on the Day of the Hereafter, and we openly denied it. Thus, time kept passing in this way until death came to us, which unveiled all the realities before us.
