The Story of Walid bin Mughirah:
Although Allah Almighty has not mentioned any specific person's name in these verses, the qualities described made it clear to everyone whom these verses are addressing. By consensus of the commentators, this person was Walid bin Mughirah. After the death of Harb bin Umayyah, the leadership of Quraysh came into his hands, and he was the uncle of Abu Jahl al-Makhzumi. He was very wealthy. Ten or twelve young sons would always be present with him, who had little concern for earning a livelihood. He had many servants for that purpose. The only task of these sons was to be present in their father's gatherings and enhance his prestige. Among these sons was Sayyiduna Khalidؓ bin Walid, who, after accepting Islam, rendered invaluable services to Islam.
