(Ayah 5) {وَ اَنَّا ظَنَنَّاۤ اَنْ لَّنْ تَقُوْلَ الْاِنْسُ وَ الْجِنُّ … :} That is, we used to think that humans and jinn, at the very least, could never lie against Allah, so we believed them when we heard from them that Allah has some partners, and that He has children and a wife. Now it has become clear that these wrongdoers were liars.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. And that we had thought that neither humans nor jinn would ever tell a lie about Allah.

[4] That is, the vast majority of jinn and humans say that Allah has a wife and children, or that angels are His daughters, or that Allah has delegated various powers to His beloved ones—so how can this be false? How can such a large majority agree on a falsehood? Therefore, we too accepted these things as correct.
