Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 25) ➊ {مِمَّا خَطِيْٓـٰٔتِهِمْ اُغْرِقُوْا … :} This is not the speech of Noah (peace be upon him), rather Allah Almighty is speaking. By bringing the prepositional phrase forward, exclusivity is created in the statement, meaning that they were drowned only because of their sins (disbelief and disobedience). The detailed incident of their drowning is mentioned in Surah Hud, Surah Al-Mu’minun, and Surah Al-Ankabut, etc. {’’ فَاُدْخِلُوْا نَارًا ‘‘} So they were made to enter the Fire; the use of "fa" indicates that as soon as they were drowned, they were made to enter the Fire, meaning that before being sent to Hell on the Day of Resurrection, they were made to enter the Fire in Barzakh and the grave itself, as Allah Almighty said regarding the people of Pharaoh: « وَ حَاقَ بِاٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوْٓءُ الْعَذَابِ (45) اَلنَّارُ يُعْرَضُوْنَ عَلَيْهَا غُدُوًّا وَّ عَشِيًّا وَ يَوْمَ تَقُوْمُ السَّاعَةُ اَدْخِلُوْۤا اٰلَ فِرْعَوْنَ اَشَدَّ الْعَذَابِ » [ المؤمن : 46،45 ] "And the people of Pharaoh were surrounded by an evil punishment, which is the Fire; they are presented to it morning and evening, and on the Day the Hour will be established, [it will be said], 'Admit the people of Pharaoh to the severest punishment.'" In summary, the people of Noah (peace be upon him) and the people of Pharaoh were first drowned in water, and after the punishment of water, its opposite, that is, the punishment of Fire, began in the grave itself, and then on the Day of Resurrection, they will be made to enter the {’’ اَشَدَّ الْعَذَابِ ‘‘} of Hell. This verse and the verse of Surah Al-Mu’min are strong evidences for the punishment of the grave.

{ فَلَمْ يَجِدُوْا لَهُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ اَنْصَارًا :} That is, neither could any leader save them from Allah’s punishment, nor could any of their pure five personalities help them.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

So because of their sins, they were drowned and made to enter the Fire [15], and they found no helpers for themselves against Allah.

Proof of the Punishment of the Grave:

The mention of the flood of Noah has already been discussed in detail under the footnote 68 of Surah Al-A'raf and footnote 83 of Surah Yunus. When this flood came, the deities of that nation could not help them at all; rather, they too were drowned along with them, and as soon as they were drowned, they were made to enter Hell. This verse is also among those verses from which the proof of Barzakh or the punishment of the grave is established from the Quran.
