يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ ﴿11﴾
Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help]. The Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children,
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ yubaṣṣarūnahum They will be made to see each other
يَوَدُّ yawaddu Would wish
ٱلْمُجْرِمُ l-muj'rimu the criminal
لَوْ law if
يَفْتَدِى yaftadī he (could be) ransomed
مِنْ min from
عَذَابِ ʿadhābi (the) punishment

11. Though they will be made to see one another [8]. The criminal will wish that he could ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by giving his sons.

[8] They will be shown to each other to see whether, even today, they express sympathy for one another as they used to do in the world. But on that Day, these friends will not even be willing to speak to each other. Each one will be preoccupied only with his own concern.
