Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 90) {اِنَّكُمْاِذًالَّخٰسِرُوْنَ:} That is, in following Shu‘ayb (peace be upon him), you will certainly suffer loss, as you will lose your ancestral religion and will also have to abandon the unlawful means by which you are earning wealth. This notion is not limited to the chiefs of Shu‘ayb’s (peace be upon him) people, but in every era, materialists have felt the same danger in adhering to the principles of morality and honesty. They have always believed that trade and other fundamental dealings cannot function without dishonesty, deceit, and usury, and have thought that speaking the truth and being straightforward destroys business.

The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
90. 1. Leaving their ancestral religion and not giving short measure and weight, according to them, was a loss, whereas in both these matters, the benefit was actually theirs. But in the eyes of worldly people, immediate profit (دنیا میں فوراً حاصل ہونے والا نفع) is everything, which they were obtaining by giving short measure and weight; so why would they abandon it for the deferred profit of the Hereafter like the believers?
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
90. The disbelieving leaders of his people said, "If you follow Shu‘ayb [96], you will surely be losers."
[96] The Notion of Loss in Adopting Truthfulness:
The addressees of this statement by the chiefs could be those people who had believed in Shu‘ayb ؑ. In this case, its meaning would be that if you do not abandon Shu‘ayb, we will make your lives miserable and make it impossible for you to live, so refrain from supporting him. And it could also refer to those who belonged to the group of these deniers themselves. In this case, it would mean that if you adopt the way of speaking the truth in business and maintaining correct weights and measures, as Shu‘ayb says, then you will never profit in your business and commercial dealings, and you will always suffer losses, and eventually your entire business will come to a standstill. And this notion was not exclusive to the people of Madyan; rather, in every era, corrupt people have held the same belief that trade, politics, and other worldly affairs cannot function without lies and dishonesty. Even today, the majority of our traders and politicians are of the same mindset, whereas these very things are the root cause of corruption in the land, and it is through them that people's rights are violated, and ultimately such deceitful people bring down the entire society.
