يَـٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ لَا يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ كَمَآ أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ يَنزِعُ عَنْهُمَا لِبَاسَهُمَا لِيُرِيَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتِهِمَآ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ يَرَىٰكُمْ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُۥ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا تَرَوْنَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿27﴾
O Children of Adam! Let not Shaitân (Satan) deceive you, as he got your parents [Adam and Hawwâ’ (Eve)] out of Paradise, stripping them of their raiments, to show them their private parts. Verily, he and Qabîluhu (his soldiers from the jinn or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them. Verily, We made the Shayâtin (devils) Auliyâ’ (protectors and helpers) for those who believe not.
يَـٰبَنِىٓ yābanī O Children
ءَادَمَ ādama (of) Adam
لَا (Let) not
يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ yaftinannakumu tempt you
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ l-shayṭānu [the] Shaitaan
كَمَآ kamā as
أَخْرَجَ akhraja he drove out
أَبَوَيْكُم abawaykum your parents
مِّنَ mina from
ٱلْجَنَّةِ l-janati Paradise
يَنزِعُ yanziʿu stripping
عَنْهُمَا ʿanhumā from both of them
لِبَاسَهُمَا libāsahumā their clothing
لِيُرِيَهُمَا liyuriyahumā to show both of them
سَوْءَٰتِهِمَآ ۗ sawātihimā their shame
إِنَّهُۥ innahu Indeed, he
يَرَىٰكُمْ yarākum sees you
هُوَ huwa he
وَقَبِيلُهُۥ waqabīluhu and his tribe
مِنْ min from
حَيْثُ ḥaythu where
لَا not
تَرَوْنَهُمْ ۗ tarawnahum you see them
إِنَّا innā Indeed
جَعَلْنَا jaʿalnā We have made
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ l-shayāṭīna the devils
أَوْلِيَآءَ awliyāa friends
لِلَّذِينَ lilladhīna of those who
لَا (do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna believe

(Ayah 27) ➊ {يٰبَنِيْۤ اٰدَمَ لَا يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطٰنُ ……:} The effort of Satan is that you do not enter Paradise, just as he expelled your parents from Paradise; for this, he promotes indecency and nakedness so that immorality and wickedness may spread. Beware, lest you become deprived of Paradise by falling into this trial.

{اِنَّهٗ يَرٰىكُمْ هُوَ وَ قَبِيْلُهٗ ……:} That is, one should be extremely cautious and alert against such an enemy who sees us while we do not see him. Some scholars have deduced from this verse that it is not possible to see the jinn, but this deduction is not authentic, because although it mostly happens that he and his tribe see us while we do not see them, it does not necessarily follow that seeing them is never possible. This is {’’ قَضِيَّةٌ مُطْلَقَةٌ لَا دَائِمَةٌ ‘‘}, therefore, the correct view is that it is possible to see the jinn. In hadiths, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw the jinn. (Fath al-Qadeer) And in the story of guarding the zakat of Ramadan, it is mentioned that Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) caught a jinn for three consecutive nights. [ بخاری : ۲۳۱۱۱ ] And in Sahih Muslim, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Tonight a rebellious jinn came to me to interrupt my prayer; if it were not for the supplication of my brother Solomon (peace be upon him), I would have caught him and tied him to a pillar so that the children of Medina would play with him in the morning." [ مسلم : ۵۴۱۔ بخاری : ۴۶۱ ] Solomon (peace be upon him) had an entire nation of jinn under his command. [ النمل : ۱۷ ]

27. 1. In this, the people of faith are warned about Shaytan and his tribe, meaning his followers and minions, that they might take advantage of your heedlessness and laziness and put you into trial and misguidance just as he expelled your parents (Adam and Hawwa) from Paradise and made them remove the garments of Paradise. Especially since they are not even visible. Therefore, one should be even more careful and concerned about protecting oneself from him.

27. 2. That is, only people of disbelieving nature are his friends and his special prey. However, he also keeps casting his nets over the people of faith. If nothing else, he involves them in hidden shirk (showing off) and shirk itself, and thus deprives them of the capital of true faith even after having faith.

O children of Adam! Let not Satan put you to trial as he expelled your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their garments to show them their nakedness [25]. Surely, he and his tribe see you from where you cannot see them. We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.

Satanic Attack and Instructions for Protection from It:

In this verse, Allah Almighty has informed mankind of several realities. First, beware of the deceit and trickery of Satan; if he could, through deception and alluring promises, expel your father from Paradise, then what can he not do to you? Second, Satan’s very first attack is to involve humans in obscenity, to spread immodesty, and to tear apart your veil of modesty and shame. Third, your enemy is watching you while you cannot see him, and it is obvious that such an enemy will strike his opponent (the human) when he is in a state of heedlessness, and his attack will be even more severe. Fourth, his attack can only be effective on those who do not believe, because those who believe and obey Allah come under the protection of such a Being who Himself sees these satans, but the satans cannot see Him. In other words, the situation is completely reversed, and Satan’s attack is far less effective on such people. And if at any time they do fall for Satan’s temptation, by seeking forgiveness from Allah and taking refuge in Him, they become purified from the effects of the satanic attack.
