Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. "And O Adam! You and your wife [16] dwell in Paradise and eat from wherever you wish, but do not approach this tree, lest you become among the wrongdoers."

[16] Allah Almighty expelled Iblis from Paradise, and after Adam (peace be upon him), created his wife and said to both of them that this Paradise is your dwelling place; eat and drink from wherever and as much as you wish, but do not even go near this one tree. Which tree was this? It has not been specified, nor was there any need for it. The purpose of this command was only to test Adam and Hawwa (peace be upon them), to see to what extent they obey Allah’s command, and whether they fall for the tricks of Satan, who beats his chest and says that he will surely mislead Adam (peace be upon him) and his progeny.
