Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 17) ➊ {ثُمَّلَاٰتِيَنَّهُمْمِّنْۢبَيْنِاَيْدِيْهِمْ …… :} That is why the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught to seek refuge from Satan and all other calamities from all directions. Thus, Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite these words every morning and evening and never omitted them: I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah! I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah! Conceal my faults and grant me security from my fears. O Allah! Protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being suddenly seized from beneath me."
➋ {وَلَاتَجِدُاَكْثَرَهُمْشٰكِرِيْنَ:} Iblis did not have knowledge of the unseen; he made this claim merely on conjecture, but the wrongdoer actually made his conjecture come true, as is mentioned in Surah Saba (20).
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
17. 1. The meaning is that I will sit on every path of good and evil. I will prevent from good and make evil appear desirable in their eyes and encourage them to choose it.
17. 2. The second meaning of "shakireen" is "muwahideen" (those who believe in the oneness of Allah). That is, I will cause most people to fall into shirk. Satan actually made his assumption come true, (وَلَقَدْصَدَّقَعَلَيْهِمْاِبْلِيْسُظَنَّهٗفَاتَّبَعُوْهُاِلَّافَرِيْقًامِّنَالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ) 34. Saba:20) Satan made his assumption come true, and except for a group of believers, everyone followed him. That is why in hadith there is great emphasis on seeking refuge from Satan, and in the Quran, on being cautious of his plotting and deception.
