151. Moses prayed: "My Lord! Forgive me and my brother [148], and admit us into Your mercy. You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."
[148] The Supplication of Forgiveness by Sayyiduna Musa (Moses) ؑ for Himself and His Brother:
When Sayyiduna Harun’s (Aaron) ؑ gentle reply brought some calm to Sayyiduna Musa’s (Moses) ؑ temperament, he realized that he had been harsh with his brother in this matter. Therefore, he immediately turned to his Lord, asking Him to forgive him as well, and if his brother had shown any shortcoming in restraining the people from shirk, to forgive him too, and to cover them both with His mercy. Another reason Sayyiduna Musa ؑ included his brother Sayyiduna Harun ؑ in this supplication for forgiveness and mercy was what Sayyiduna Harun ؑ had said: “Do not give my enemies a chance to laugh at me.” This kind of supplication was also intended to address that complaint.
