Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 114) {قَالَ نَعَمْ وَ اِنَّكُمْ لَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ:} Pharaoh promised not only a reward but also inclusion among those brought near. Some scholars have written that Pharaoh’s promise was fulfilled, but it was destined for them to receive that reward and nearness from Allah Almighty instead of Pharaoh; observe the majesty of Allah, that the one claiming divinity did not even know from whom they would receive reward and nearness.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

114. 1. The magicians, since they were seekers of the world, learned the art of trickery only to earn worldly gains. Therefore, they considered it an opportune moment that the king was in need of them at this time, so why not take advantage of this opportunity and obtain as high a wage as possible. Thus, they presented their demand for a wage in case of success, upon which Pharaoh said that not only would they receive a reward, but they would also be included among my close associates.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

114. Pharaoh said, "Yes, and you will also have positions [115] of honor in my court."

The Contest with the Magicians:

The day of the festival was fixed for the contest, in which the general public was also given an open invitation to participate. In this large gathering, Pharaoh appeared with all his courtiers, and Sayyiduna Musa ؑ and Sayyiduna Harun ؑ also arrived on time. Since the magicians had been summoned by the royal court, as soon as they arrived, they asked whether they would receive any wages for participating in such a great contest. This very question makes clear the difference between a magician and a prophet. Whatever a magician does, he does for his own livelihood, and this is his profession, whereas the Prophets (peace be upon them) have always said to their people, "We do not ask you for anything; our reward is with Allah." In any case, in response to the magicians' question, Pharaoh encouraged them by saying, why do you only mention wages? You will also receive positions with me. Pharaoh gave such an answer because it had become a matter of his honor and disgrace.
