Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 4) {كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ وَ عَادٌۢ بِالْقَارِعَةِ:’’اَلْقَارِعَةُ‘‘ ’’قَرَعَ‘‘} (F) Knocking, striking one hard thing against another. This is one of the names of the Day of Judgment, because it too will suddenly come knocking just as someone comes and knocks forcefully at the door and a person jumps up startled. The disbelievers are being reminded that those who denied the Day of Judgment before you were not the only ones, but before you, ‘Ad and Thamud—who were far greater than you in strength and power—also denied this Knocker (the Day of Judgment), so what was their end? Thamud, who were the most civilized nation in the northwest of Arabia, and ‘Ad, who were in the southeast of Arabia, after denying monotheism, their greatest crime was the denial of the Day of Judgment and the Hereafter, which made them rebellious, and as a result of which they were ultimately destroyed and ruined. The real cause of the rebellion of the so-called civilized, materialistic nations of the present age is also the denial of the Day of Judgment and reward and punishment.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

4. 1. In this, the Day of Judgment has been called "the one that will cause a shock," because its terrors will awaken the people.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

4. Thamud and ‘Ad denied the Striking Calamity (the Resurrection) [2][3].

[2] ﴿قَارِعةٌ﴾ ﴿قَرَعَ﴾ means to strike one thing against another in such a way that it produces a sound. And ﴿قرع الباب﴾ means he knocked on the door, and ﴿قارِعَةٌ﴾ means "the one that rattles," and according to Ibn al-Faris, ﴿قارِعَةٌ﴾ is anything that descends upon a person with intensity. Also, ﴿قارِعَةٌ﴾ is a descriptive name for the Day of Resurrection, meaning that on that day, the things of the universe will collide with each other, producing various kinds of sounds.
[3] That is, the matter of the Resurrection or the Hereafter is not just that if someone believes, let him believe, and if not, let him not believe. When the Resurrection comes, it will become clear whether it comes or not. Rather, its immediate effect is manifested in this world itself. Because the very concept of being accountable to Allah for one's deeds is such an effective means that it can save a person, individuals, and nations from falling into moral decline. Whichever nations denied the Hereafter, their morals deteriorated, and they became involved in oppression and injustice. Eventually, Allah's punishment came and destroyed them.
