Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). (Ayah 7){ اِذَاۤاُلْقُوْافِيْهَاسَمِعُوْالَهَاشَهِيْقًاوَّهِيَتَفُوْرُ:’’شَهِيْقٌ‘‘} The last sound of a donkey’s braying and {’’ زَفِيْرٌ ‘‘} the initial sound. (Qamoos) In Surah Al-Furqan (12), it is stated that when Hell sees them from a distance, they will hear the intense anger of Hell and a sound like the braying of a donkey. Along with this, the cries and screams of the people of Hell that will be heard will also be like the sounds of donkeys. Allah Almighty said: « فَاَمَّاالَّذِيْنَشَقُوْافَفِيالنَّارِلَهُمْفِيْهَازَفِيْرٌوَّشَهِيْقٌ »[ ھود : ۱۰۶ ] “So those who are wretched, they will be in the Fire; for them is the drawing in and letting out of sound like a donkey.”

7. 1. شَھِیْق refers to the sound that a donkey makes the first time; it is the most unpleasant sound. Hell will also be screaming and wailing like a donkey and will be boiling like a pot placed over fire.

When they are thrown into it, they will hear its roaring [11] as it boils up [12].
[11] ﴿شَهِيْقًا﴾ "Zafeer" and ﴿شهيق﴾ is the name for the initial and final state of the sound made when a donkey brays. ﴿زفر﴾ means to exhale a long breath, and "zafeer" is the initial sound of a donkey's braying, which starts softly and gradually becomes louder. When the donkey is about to finish braying, the sound that starts to decrease from loud to soft is called ﴿شَهِيْقٌ﴾. According to the explicit statement of the Quran, the sound of a donkey's braying is the most disliked and unpleasant to the ears. Such a detestable sound will be produced by Hell. There are two forms of this: one is that such a sound will be produced by the boiling of Hell; the other is that those who are already in Hell will make such detestable sounds. [12] The Literal Meaning of ﴿تفور﴾:
﴿تَفُوْرُ﴾﴿فار الماء﴾ means the boiling and bubbling of water. The reason for this boiling or bubbling is not the intensity of heat, but rather the pressure of the water. If the pressure of the water from below is greater and the opening is narrow, the water leaps upward with great force. The word "fountain" is derived from this.
