Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 7) ➊ {لِيُنْفِقْذُوْسَعَةٍمِّنْسَعَتِهٖ … :} From this it is understood that in maintenance, the wife's status will not be considered, rather maintenance will be obligatory according to the husband's status. If the husband is affluent and wealthy, he will spend accordingly, and if he is poor, then he should spend from what Allah has given him according to his ability.
➋ { سَيَجْعَلُاللّٰهُبَعْدَعُسْرٍيُّسْرًا :} In this is Allah's promise that those husbands who fulfill the expenses incumbent upon them according to their capacity and do not act stingily, then Allah will surely create some way of ease for them after hardship. In {’’ سَيَجْعَلُ ‘‘}, the letter "س" (sa) besides indicating the future, also conveys emphasis. In both {’’ عُسْرٍ ‘‘} and {’’ يُسْرًا ‘‘}, the tanween is for indefiniteness, meaning that with Allah there are countless ways to create ease; whatever kind of hardship there may be, Allah can create some way of ease in it. A person should not hold back from spending according to his ability in hardship; whatever Allah has given, he should continue to spend from it, so Allah will surely create some way of ease after hardship, as He said: « فَاِنَّمَعَالْعُسْرِيُسْرًا (5) اِنَّمَعَالْعُسْرِيُسْرًا »[ الانشراح : 6،5 ] "So indeed, with every hardship is an ease. Indeed, with that hardship is another ease."
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
7. 1 That is, nursing women should be given wages according to one's ability. If Allah has granted abundance in wealth and property, then it is necessary to provide for the wet nurse with that abundance. 7. 2 That is, one is financially weak. 7. 3 Therefore, He does not command the poor and weak to give the wet nurse a higher wage. The meaning of these instructions is that both the child's mother and the child's father should adopt such an appropriate attitude that neither causes harm to the other, and the issue of breastfeeding the child does not become serious, as stated elsewhere (لَاتُضَاۗرَّوَالِدَةٌۢبِوَلَدِھَاوَلَامَوْلُوْدٌلَّهٗبِوَلَدِهٖ) 2. Al-Baqarah:233) neither should the mother be harmed because of her child, nor the father. 7. 4 Thus, those who trust and rely on Allah, Allah grants them ease and abundance as well.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
7. Let the wealthy man spend according to his means, and he whose provision is restricted, let him spend from what Allah has given him. Allah does not burden any soul except with what He has given it. Allah will soon bring about ease [22] after hardship.
[22] In this verse, once again encouragement is given to act generously in this matter: that every father should pay the mother the wage for breastfeeding according to his means, whether he is wealthy or poor. And if he is poor, even then he should not be stingy in spending according to his capacity. If he does not act with stinginess, Allah will remove his hardship and open up paths of sustenance for him.
