Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 3) ➊ { خَلَقَالسَّمٰوٰتِوَالْاَرْضَبِالْحَقِّ:} Here, “truth” means wisdom and purpose, and among the countless wisdoms of their creation is that before the creation of man, Allah Almighty created all those things that were necessary for the survival of man and put them at his service, as He said: «هُوَالَّذِيْخَلَقَلَكُمْمَّافِيالْاَرْضِجَمِيْعًا »[البقرۃ : ۲۹ ] “He it is Who created for you all that is in the earth.” See also Surah Az-Zumar (5).
➋ { وَصَوَّرَكُمْفَاَحْسَنَصُوَرَكُمْ:} Whatever Allah Almighty created, He created it well. (See As-Sajdah: 7) Here it is said that He shaped you and made your forms good. (See Al-Mu’min: 64; Al-Infitar: 6–8) Elsewhere it is said that We created man (not just good, but) in the best stature, as Allah Almighty says: « لَقَدْخَلَقْنَاالْاِنْسَانَفِيْۤاَحْسَنِتَقْوِيْمٍ »[ التین : ۴ ] “Indeed, We created man in the best stature.” In both outward appearance and in mental and intellectual capacity, man has been given the best form; no other creature has such intellectual capacity. No matter how unattractive a person may be, he would never wish to be transformed into the form of another creature, no matter how beautiful it may be.
➌ { وَاِلَيْهِالْمَصِيْرُ:} That is, the creation of the entire universe, especially creating man in such a perfect form, is not without purpose, but rather to test you, as He said: « لِيَبْلُوَكُمْاَيُّكُمْاَحْسَنُعَمَلًا »[ ہود : ۷ ] “That He may test you as to which of you is best in deed.” And for this, after death, you will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection and returned to Him.

3. 1. And that justice and wisdom is that the doer of good should be rewarded for his goodness and the evildoer should be recompensed for his evil, thus He will fully establish this justice on the Day of Resurrection.
3. 2. He made your form and appearance, stature and features extremely beautiful, which other creations of Allah are deprived of.
3. 2. Not towards anyone else, so that one may be saved from Allah's reckoning and accountability.

3. He created the heavens and the earth with true purpose [5], and He shaped you [6] and made your forms excellent [7], and to Him is the final return [8].
[5] The real wisdom was that before the creation of man, Allah Almighty created all those things which are necessary for human life and its sustenance. He made all things subservient to man, and all these things are appointed to serve mankind.
[6] What Additional Qualities Does Man Possess Over Other Creatures?
That is, man was created as a creature who stands upright and walks on two feet. He was granted the abilities to speak, to understand each other's words, and to respond. Then, he was also endowed with such intellect and consciousness that he could utilize all other creatures as needed, make them obedient and subservient to himself, and rule over them. And these qualities were not granted to any creature other than man. The structure of his limbs was also made such that he can perform multiple tasks with each limb. By using his intellect and limbs, on one hand, he continues to conquer the universe, and on the other hand, he keeps bringing forth new inventions.
[7] That is, man's design was made excellent, and then his appearance was also made very beautiful. It was not done that one of a person's eyes would be large and the other small, or one eye black and the other blue, or one nostril large and the other small, or one hand long and the other short, which would make a person not only unattractive but also frightening and terrifying. Then, despite such comprehensive uniformity, each individual's face and features were made distinct. If Allah Almighty had placed man's nose or eyes on the back of his neck or on his back, just imagine how unattractive a creature man would have been.
[8] Allah's creating this universe, managing it in an organized manner, then creating a creature like man, the noblest of all creatures and of the best stature, and then continuously bringing about the cycle of life and death in it—all these things you are witnessing. Then, would it be difficult for Him to gather you to Himself after death?
