Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 12) ➊ {وَاَطِيْعُوااللّٰهَوَاَطِيْعُواالرَّسُوْلَ:} According to the context, the meaning is that when a calamity befalls you, do not turn away from the obedience of Allah and His Messenger, but in all circumstances, whether good or bad, obey the command of Allah and obey the command of His Messenger. The repetition of {’’ اَطِيْعُوْا ‘‘} along with {’’ الرَّسُوْلَ ‘‘} shows that just as the command of Allah is a permanent law, so is the command of the Messenger a permanent law; there is no room for opposing either of them. Other people whose commands are obeyed do not have this status; only those of their commands will be obeyed which are not against the Book and Sunnah. This point is clarified in Surah An-Nisa, Ayah (59): « اَطِيْعُوااللّٰهَوَاَطِيْعُواالرَّسُوْلَوَاُولِيالْاَمْرِمِنْكُمْ », where {’’ اُولِيالْاَمْرِ ‘‘} is not repeated along with {’’ اَطِيْعُوْا ‘‘}. For details, see the commentary of Surah An-Nisa (59). ➋ { فَاِنْتَوَلَّيْتُمْفَاِنَّمَاعَلٰىرَسُوْلِنَاالْبَلٰغُالْمُبِيْنُ:} Then if, being distressed by calamities, you turn away from obedience, you will only harm yourselves; our Messenger is only responsible to clearly convey Allah’s commands to you, and so he has conveyed them.
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
12. 1. That is, nothing will harm our Messenger from this, because his duty is only to convey. Imam Zuhri says, it is Allah's task to send the Messenger, the Messenger's task is to convey, and the people's task is to submit (Fath al-Qadeer).
