Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Verses 6-8) For the exegesis of these verses, see the exegesis of Surah Al-Baqarah (94 to 96).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

6. 1 Just as they used to say, "We are Allah's sons and His beloved ones" (وَقَالَتِ الْيَھُوْدُ وَالنَّصٰرٰى نَحْنُ اَبْنٰۗؤُا اللّٰهِ وَاَحِبَّاۗؤُهٗ ۭقُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُمْ بِذُنُوْبِكُمْ ۭ بَلْ اَنْتُمْ بَشَرٌ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ۭيَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۗءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَّشَاۗءُ ۭوَلِلّٰهِ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۡ وَاِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيْرُ 18؀) 5. Al-Ma'idah:18) and claimed that "Only he will enter Paradise who is a Jew or a Christian" (وَقَالُوْا لَنْ يَّدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ اِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ ھُوْدًا اَوْ نَصٰرٰى ۭ تِلْكَ اَمَانِيُّھُمْ ۭ قُلْ ھَاتُوْا بُرْھَانَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ 111۔) 2. Al-Baqarah:111)

6. 2 So that you may attain that honor and respect which, according to your arrogance, should be for you,

6. 3 Because whoever knows that Paradise is for him after death, he would desire to reach there quickly. Hafiz Ibn Kathir has interpreted this as the invitation to Mubahala. That is, in this, they were told that if you are truthful in denying the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ and in your claim of friendship and belovedness, then do Mubahala with the Muslims. That is, both Muslims and Jews together should pray in the court of Allah that, "O Allah, whoever among us is a liar, cause him to die."

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

6. Say, "O you who are Jews, if you claim that you are the friends of Allah to the exclusion of all other people [11], then wish for death, if you are truthful."

[11] Despite all these flaws, they believed that since they were the descendants of the Prophets, they alone were His beloved and dear ones in the entire world. After death, only they would enter Paradise, while everyone else would go to Hell. They also believed that as soon as they died, they would go straight to Paradise. Allah Almighty, rejecting their belief, said that if you are truthful in your claim, then you should long for death as soon as possible so that you may be freed from the troubles and entanglements of this world.
