Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 97) {وَهُوَالَّذِيْجَعَلَلَكُمُالنُّجُوْمَ …:} This is one benefit of the stars; in other verses, stars are described as the adornment of the sky and as means of stoning (rujum) for the devils. See Surah As-Saffat (7,6) and Surah Al-Mulk (5). Allah knows best how many other benefits there are in them, but to believe that the unseen can be known through them or that they have any authority in the workings of power is clear misguidance and shirk, as the Holy Qur’an repeatedly declares that only Allah is the owner of knowledge and power.
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
97. 1. Here, one benefit and purpose of the stars has been mentioned; there are two other purposes which have been stated at another place: the adornment of the heavens and the pelting of devils. رجو ما للشیطین. That is, when devils try to ascend to the sky, these fall upon them as flames. Some scholars have said: من اعتقد فی ہذاہ النجوم غیر ثلاث فقد اخطاء وکذب علی اللہ Whoever holds any belief about these stars other than these three matters is mistaken and has lied against Allah. From this, it is understood that the practice of astrology in our country, in which claims are made about the effects of stars on future events, human life, or the universe, is baseless and also against the Shariah. In fact, in a hadith, it has been described as a branch of magic: من اقتبس علماء من النجوم اقتبس شعبۃ من السحر زاد ما زاد (Hasan by Al-Albani, Sahih Abi Dawood)
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
He is the One Who created the stars [100] for you so that you may find your way by them in the darkness of the land and the sea. We have clearly explained the signs for people who have knowledge.
[100] Besides the sun and the moon, Allah has also created the stars, which, during dark nights when even the moon is absent, continue to provide some light. Moreover, since there is an order in their movement, by observing their course during the darkness of night, it can be determined how much of the night has passed and how much remains. The direction can also be ascertained, so that one knows in which direction one is traveling at that time, and thus the path can also be determined. These benefits are obtained on land just as they are during sea journeys. The creation of these stars, their fixed course, and the attainment of such benefits for mankind from them are also clear signs of Allah’s Being and His Power, because without Him, no one can create stars, nor can anyone make them adhere to a fixed course so that the mentioned benefits may be obtained. And those who reflect and ponder, also attain through them the recognition of Allah.
