Verily! It is Allâh Who causes the seed-grain and the fruit-stone (like date-stone) to split and sprout. He brings forth the living from the dead, and it is He Who brings forth the dead from the living. Such is Allâh, then how are you deluded away from the truth?

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 95) ➊ {اِنَّ اللّٰهَ فَالِقُ الْحَبِّ وَ النَّوٰى … :} After mentioning the oneness of Allah and some matters related to it, once again the existence of Allah, His oneness, and the perfection of His power and knowledge are being discussed, which is the main subject of this surah.
{’’ النَّوٰى ‘‘} This is the plural of {’’ نَوَاةٌ ‘‘}, therefore it has been translated as "pits." That is, Allah splits the grain in the earth to bring forth a flourishing plant, and splits the pit to bring forth a lush date palm tree. Observe His craftsmanship: He brings forth the living from the dead, such as a living being from a drop of fluid or an egg, a living tree from a grain or a pit, and a Muslim from a disbeliever; and He brings forth the dead from the living, such as a drop of fluid or an egg from an animal or a bird, grains and pits from plants and trees, and a disbeliever from a Muslim. This is Allah, who alone deserves your worship; then how strange it is that, being misled by Satan, you begin to worship others besides Him.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

95. 1 From here, the description of Allah's unparalleled power and craftsmanship begins. It is stated: Allah splits the grain (ḥabb) and the pit, which the farmer buries deep in the earth, and from it brings forth various kinds of trees. The earth is one, and the water with which the crops are irrigated is also one. But according to the type of grain or pit, Allah brings forth different kinds of crops and fruit-bearing trees from them. Is there anyone besides Allah who does this work or can do it?

95. 2 That is, He causes trees to grow from grains and pits, in which there is life, and they grow and spread, and bear fruit or grain, or they are fragrant, colorful flowers which, when seen or smelled, bring joy and delight to humans, or He creates humans and animals from sperm and eggs.

95. 3 That is, from animals come eggs, which are considered as dead. The terms living and dead have also been interpreted as referring to believers and disbelievers, meaning He causes a disbeliever to be born in the house of a believer and a believer in the house of a disbeliever.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

95. Indeed, it is Allah who splits the grain and the seed [97.1]. He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living [98]. That is Allah—so how are you deluded?

[97۔ 1]
Allah’s Powers in the Growth of Plants:

This is a very great proof of Allah Almighty being the Creator, Owner, and All-Powerful, that He is the One who splits every kind of grain or seed and every kind of fruit stone. When the seed of a grain or the stone of a fruit is buried in the ground, and then that ground is watered, the seed or stone splits and divides into two parts, and two shoots emerge. One shoot starts growing downward into the earth in the form of a root, and the other shoot, becoming a sprout, breaks through the earth and emerges from it. Then from this, leaves, fruits, and flowers begin to appear. And despite the fact that the seed is one, the earth is one, the water is one, and the nature is one, yet the effects of the shoot that emerges above the ground are completely different from those of the shoot that goes into the ground, and the characteristics of the shoot that emerges above are also of many kinds. The shape of the leaves is different, the flowers are different, and the fruits are different, and every seed or stone produces the leaves and fruits of the very plant to which it belongs. All these things point to the perfect craftsmanship of Allah’s power.
[98]
Proof of the Hereafter:

This is the second proof of Allah being the Creator, Owner, and All-Powerful, that He brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living. No human or any other creature can do both these things. Then, when this is the situation, how can others become partners in Allah’s authority and control? There are also many forms of bringing forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living. For example, Allah created man from clay, which is a lifeless thing, and then made all his needs dependent on this very clay or earth. Then this living human, after dying, returns to this lifeless earth. From this very reality, Allah Almighty has argued for the Resurrection. For example, plants and trees grow from the earth, in which there are signs of life, then these very things, after mixing with the earth, become lifeless again. Or, for example, a chicken produces an egg, then a chicken is produced from the egg. Thus, there are countless examples in this world of the living coming from the dead and the dead from the living, and all these are such acts that are beyond the power of any human or any other being. The Hereafter can be analogized from this, and it is not difficult to understand that after the human body mixes with the earth and becomes earth, Allah has the power to create him again from the earth itself.
