Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 83) ➊ {وَ تِلْكَ حُجَّتُنَاۤ … :} By this argument is meant the proofs of monotheism that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) presented before his people; these proofs were granted to Ibrahim (peace be upon him) by Allah Almighty in opposition to his people. This also supports the point that these matters are not from his childhood, that he gradually moved from polytheism to monotheism, because a prophet of Allah never errs in understanding the oneness of Allah Almighty.
{نَرْفَعُ دَرَجٰتٍ مَّنْ نَّشَآءُ:} That is, since Ibrahim (peace be upon him) did not care for his own life and devoted himself to calling towards monotheism, therefore We also bestowed great favors upon him. Even in this world, he was granted the reward that in old age he was blessed with righteous offspring, and after him, the chain of prophethood and scripture among his descendants continued, and the last prophet of this chain is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

83. 1. That is, such a proof and argument for the oneness of Allah, to which the people of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) had no answer. And according to some, it was this statement: (وکیف اخاف ما اشرکتم ولا تخافون انکم اشرکتم باللہ مالم ینزل بہ علیکم سلطنا فای الفریقین احق بالامن) Allah Almighty affirmed this statement of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and said Al-An'am: 82)

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

83. That was Our argument [86] which We gave to Abraham against his people. We raise in rank whom We will. Surely, your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.

[86]
What Argument Did Ibrahim (A.S.) Present to the Polytheists?

The argument was that if Allah Almighty is the Creator and Owner of everything, then authority and control over everything should also belong solely to Him. How unjust it is that Allah Almighty is the Creator and Owner of everything, yet others are also included in His authority and worship. From this verse, it is understood that the people of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (A.S.) also believed that Allah Almighty is the Creator and Owner of this universe; if they did not believe this, then the style of this discussion would have been different.
