Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 81) ➊ {وَ كَيْفَ اَخَافُ … :} This completes the second answer in the above verse, that is, why should I fear your deities when I am certain that they can neither benefit nor harm me? In fact, you should be afraid, as you are committing the greatest injustice by associating partners with Allah without any proof.

{فَاَيُّ الْفَرِيْقَيْنِ اَحَقُّ بِالْاَمْنِ … :} Which of us has a greater right to security (to be free from fear)? Is it you, the polytheists, who, out of mere superstition, think that these idols might be able to benefit or harm, or is it us, the pure monotheists, who are certain and assured that only Allah has power over all benefit and harm, and that no dead or living being in the world besides Him can harm us in the slightest? Even in this Ummah, those who recite the kalimah but are devotees of saints say to the people of Tawheed that whoever abandons the “Gyarhveen” of the great saint, his son or buffalo dies, or some other harm may befall him. For them too, the answer is the same as what Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

81. 1. That is, among the believer and the polytheist? The believer possesses complete proofs of Tawheed, whereas the polytheist has no evidence revealed by Allah, only false assumptions or far-fetched interpretations. From this, it can be inferred who will be deserving of security and salvation.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

81. And how should I fear those whom you associate with Allah, while you do not fear associating partners with Allah for which He has sent down no authority to you? So, which of the two parties is more deserving of security, if you have any knowledge?"

[84]
The Threat of Punishment from the Deities:

The greatest weapon these idolaters had was that the idols you are insulting will themselves deal with you, as was their own belief. Sayyiduna Ibrahim ؑ replied to them that if you do not fear Allah, Who is the Sovereign over the entire universe, then why should I fear these idols of yours, which you have made with your own hands and which are lifeless stones dependent on you for their very existence and survival? How can they harm or benefit me or you in any way? Secondly, whatever I am saying is based on the true knowledge that I have received from Allah, but your belief that these idols possess the power to benefit or harm is merely your own delusion and conjecture, for which you have no evidence. Therefore, you yourselves should reflect and decide who is deserving of punishment from Allah and who is deserving of peace and security.
