Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And warn therewith (the Qur’ân) those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord, when there will be neither a protector nor an intercessor for them besides Him, so that they may fear Allâh and keep their duty to Him (by abstaining from committing sins and by doing all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained).

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 51) ➊ {وَاَنْذِرْبِهِالَّذِيْنَ …:} In the above verse, it was stated regarding the prophets that they are bearers of glad tidings and warners; now in this verse, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is commanded to warn. (Razi) That is, the benefit of warning can only be for those who fear being resurrected and presented before Allah Almighty. Where, besides Allah Almighty, there will be neither any helper to support them nor any intercessor. Those who do not believe in resurrection and the Day of Judgment and persist in denial will not benefit from your warning. It is said: « سَوَآءٌعَلَيْهِمْءَاَنْذَرْتَهُمْاَمْلَمْتُنْذِرْهُمْلَايُؤْمِنُوْنَ »[ البقرۃ : ۶ ] "It is the same for them, whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe."
➋ {لَعَلَّهُمْيَتَّقُوْنَ :} That is, the benefit of warning such people will be that your warning will increase their fear of Allah and they will refrain from sins. This verse also refutes those disbelievers who believed that their deities and idols would intercede with Allah Almighty and save them. Similarly, there is a lesson in this for those who, relying on the intercession of their elders, remain heedless and continue to sin without fear, because on the Day of Judgment, no intercession will be of any avail without the permission of Allah Almighty.
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
51. 1. That is, the benefit of warning can only be for such people; otherwise, those who do not believe in resurrection after death and gathering will remain firm on their disbelief and denial. Furthermore, this is also a refutation of the belief of the People of the Book, disbelievers, and polytheists that they considered the idols of their forefathers as their intercessors. Also, the meaning of "there will be no helper or intercessor" is that for those who have been declared deserving of the punishment of Hell, there will be none. Otherwise, for the believers, the righteous servants of Allah will intercede by Allah's command. That is, the negation of intercession is for the disbelievers and polytheists, and its affirmation is for those who are sinful believers and monotheists. In this way, there remains no contradiction between the two types of verses.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
And warn with this (Qur'an) those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord, when they will have no protector or intercessor besides Him, so that they may become mindful. [54]
[54] Do not be concerned about the guidance of all people; rather, be sure to care for those who have already believed, who have faith in the Hereafter, and who, with the awareness of accountability before Allah and fear of the punishment of Hell, are fearful. Be sure to convey the commands of revelation to them. And as for those who do believe in the Hereafter but also hold the belief that they are the descendants of the pious or that the pious will intercede for them and save them, warn them that on that Day, no intercession will be of any use, nor lineage, nor even the closest of relatives. Therefore, everyone should be concerned about their own deeds; this is the way for them to become righteous. And some commentators say that the addressees of this verse are not the believers but the disbelievers, because they are the ones who fear going before Allah the most. Therefore, there is a greater need to warn them; this meaning is also accommodated within this verse.
