Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 43,42){ وَ لَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَاۤ اِلٰۤى اُمَمٍ مِّنْ قَبْلِكَ … :} In these verses, Allah Almighty has mentioned those nations whose hearts became so hardened and whose evil deeds were made so attractive to them by Satan that even when Allah’s punishment came upon them, instead of turning to Allah Almighty, they continued to attribute that punishment solely to worldly causes. Whereas the purpose of sending calamities and disasters is to provide people with an opportunity to turn back from their ways, yet they squander even this opportunity. Is this not the condition of the majority of us Muslims today, that when any war, famine, flood, earthquake, or any other collective calamity befalls us, many among us consider it merely the result of material causes and regard considering it a warning and punishment from Allah Almighty as ignorance and foolishness? Especially those who deny hadith and those who are overawed by disbelievers are in this very state.
