If you could but see when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord! He will say: "Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the truth?" They will say: "Yes, by our Lord!" He will then say: "So taste you the torment because you used not to believe."

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 30) ➊ {وَ لَوْ تَرٰۤى اِذْ وُقِفُوْا …:} In the previous verse, the statement of the disbelievers has been mentioned, which they used to say in the world, and now their condition in the Hereafter is being described.
{قَالَ اَلَيْسَ هٰذَا بِالْحَقِّ … :} If only you could see the scene when they will be made to stand before their Lord and will be asked whether this (Hereafter and reward and punishment) is not the truth. Now they will completely change their statement and will swear and acknowledge the truth of the Day of Resurrection, but this acknowledgment at that time will not benefit them at all. Rather, Allah will say: Then taste the punishment because of your disbelief. In the Noble Qur’an, their wish on the Day of Resurrection and its rejection has been mentioned in several places. See Surah Al-Mu’minun (107, 108) and Surah As-Sajdah (12).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

30. 1. That is, after witnessing with their own eyes, they will admit that the life of the Hereafter is indeed true. But at that point, this admission will be of no benefit, and Allah Almighty will say to them that now taste the punishment as a result of your disbelief.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

If only you could see when they will be made to stand before their Lord [34]. Allah will say: "Is this Day not the truth?" They will say: "Yes, by our Lord." Allah will say: "Then taste the punishment for what you used to deny."

[34] That is, when they will be made to stand before Allah for the reckoning and questioning of the deeds they committed in the world, and all realities will become manifest before their eyes, then there will be no room left for denial. At that time, in a state of regret and despair, they will say how wrongly they used to think in the world and that they could do nothing for this Day. On that Day, Allah Almighty will ask such people, "Tell Me, do you still have any doubt or suspicion about this Hereafter? Has this process of reward and punishment not become a concrete reality before you?" They will say, "Our Lord! How can we have any doubt now when we are seeing all this with our own eyes?" Allah Almighty will say, "Very well, now suffer the punishment for what you have done, and taste the recompense for your disbelief in the form of the fire of Hell."
