Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 2)➊ {هُوَالَّذِيْخَلَقَكُمْمِّنْطِيْنٍ:} He created you from clay, that is, Adam (peace be upon him), and since all other people are the descendants of Adam, it is as if all were created from clay. In {’’ طِيْنٍ ‘‘}, the tanween is for disparagement, so it has been translated as "despicable clay."
➋ {ثُمَّقَضٰۤىاَجَلًا:} Then He appointed a fixed term for you, that is, the time of death, and another term is appointed with Him, that is, the time of Resurrection, which only He knows; no one else has knowledge of it. Yet you doubt, that is, you do not even understand that the One who created you from a handful of clay can also bring you back to life.
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
2. 1. That is, your father Adam (علیہ السلام), who is your origin and from whom you all have descended. Another meaning could be that the food and nourishment you consume all originate from the earth, and from these nourishments the sperm is formed, which, after entering the mother's womb, becomes the cause of human creation. In this sense, it is as if your creation is from clay.
2. 2. That is, the time of death.
2. 3. That is, the time of the Hereafter, the knowledge of which is only with Allah. Thus, the first appointed term refers to the lifespan of a human from birth to death, and the second appointed term is the specified one. It refers to the total age of the world from the death of a person until the occurrence of the Resurrection, after which it will face decline and annihilation, and the life of another world, that is, the Hereafter, will begin.
2. 4. That is, regarding the occurrence of the Resurrection, as the disbelievers and polytheists used to say that when we die and mix with the soil, how will we be brought back to life again? Allah Almighty said that the One who created you the first time, He alone will bring you to life again. (Surah Yaseen)
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
2. He is the One Who created you from clay, then decreed a term (for your death), and another fixed term is with Him (for the Resurrection). Yet you doubt [2] (about Allah).
[2] The Second Proof:
That is, Abu’l-Bashar, our master Adam ؑ, was created from clay. Then all your nutritional needs are also fulfilled from this very clay. Then, after death, you will also merge into this clay, as if He created you from a lifeless thing and granted you life, and in the same way, He will merge the living into a lifeless thing. Then do you not understand that He will raise you again from this very clay and that He is capable of granting such life? Therefore, if you reflect, you should neither have any doubt about Allah nor about the Day of Resurrection. In this verse, the first word "ajal" refers to the time until a person's death, which is the minor resurrection (qiyamah sughra) for every individual. Thus, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever dies, his resurrection has been established." And "ajal musamma" refers to the Day of Resurrection or the major resurrection (qiyamah kubra), when all people will be raised from their graves and will be questioned and held accountable before Allah.
