Surah Al-An'aam (6) — Ayah 139

وَقَالُوا۟ مَا فِى بُطُونِ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ خَالِصَةٌ لِّذُكُورِنَا وَمُحَرَّمٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِنَا ۖ وَإِن يَكُن مَّيْتَةً فَهُمْ فِيهِ شُرَكَآءُ ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِمْ وَصْفَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ ﴿139﴾
And they say: "What is in the bellies of such and such cattle (milk or foetus) is for our males alone, and forbidden to our females (girls and women), but if it is born dead, then all have shares therein." He will punish them for their attribution (of such false orders to Allâh). Verily, He is All-Wise, All-Knower. (Tafsir At-Tabarî).
وَقَالُوا۟ waqālū And they say
مَا What
فِى (is) in
بُطُونِ buṭūni (the) wombs
هَـٰذِهِ hādhihi (of) these
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ l-anʿāmi cattle
خَالِصَةٌۭ khāliṣatun (is) exclusively
لِّذُكُورِنَا lidhukūrinā for our males
وَمُحَرَّمٌ wamuḥarramun and forbidden
عَلَىٰٓ ʿalā on
أَزْوَٰجِنَا ۖ azwājinā our spouses
وَإِن wa-in But if
يَكُن yakun is
مَّيْتَةًۭ maytatan (born) dead
فَهُمْ fahum then they (all)
فِيهِ fīhi in it
شُرَكَآءُ ۚ shurakāu (are) partners
سَيَجْزِيهِمْ sayajzīhim He will recompense them
وَصْفَهُمْ ۚ waṣfahum (for) their attribution
إِنَّهُۥ innahu Indeed, He
حَكِيمٌ ḥakīmun (is) All-Wise
عَلِيمٌۭ ʿalīmun All-Knowing

(Ayah 139){ وَ قَالُوْا مَا فِيْ بُطُوْنِ هٰذِهِ الْاَنْعَامٌ …… :} This was another form: the animals which they dedicated in the names of their idols, regarding some of them they would say that their milk and the living offspring born from their bellies are lawful only for our men, forbidden for women; however, if the offspring is born dead, then both men and women are equal partners in eating it. Allah Almighty said that soon He will recompense them for these false statements of theirs, and He will do so according to His perfect wisdom and knowledge.

139. 1. This is another form: from the animals that they dedicated to their idols, regarding some of them they would say that their milk and the living offspring born from their wombs are lawful only for our men, and forbidden for women.
